Verdaguer Trek or Mountain Bike Route: Folgueroles – Sanctuary of the World

Mosen Cinto Verdaguer

Verdaguer route with mountain bike or trekking

– Verdaguer Route 1st part

This year, on the 175th anniversary of the birth of Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer, we want to commemorate him with a series of routes retracing the footsteps of this poet on his hiking journey through the Pyrenees.

On this first mountain bike route, we leave Folgueroles where he was born on May 17, 1845 and arrive at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the World, where he was inspired to write one of his most popular poems, Canigó.

The excursion takes us to varied and enchanting places, crossing the regions of Garrotxa and Osona.

In Osona: Folgueroles, passing through the Sau reservoir, the villages of Tavertet, Rupit and Pruit; we climb to the top of the cliffs of the Avenc at Collsacabra and offers a magnificent view of the Ter valley, the Guilleries and, further away, the Montseny.

Through the Garrotxa: we will descend to the Vall d’en Bas, we pass through the Natural Park of the Volcanic Zone of the Garrotxa. It surrounds the Volcano of Santa Margarida, follows the Fageda d’en Jordà; with the medieval towns of Santa Pau and Besalú to reach the Santuari del Món, a viewpoint of the Canigó where Verdaguer was inspired.

The next one will be from the Sanctuary of Mon to Canigó.
