Descending the Segre in Btt

Route with mountain bike following the Segre River, from its source to the Ebro confluence. Designed by Silvia R.

A very varied route where we pass through the Pyrenees to the plains of Lleida. The Segre Basin comprises territories of France, Andorra, Catalonia and Aragon. Loaded with heritage and landscape wealth.

Rio Segre, which rises on the northern side of Puigmal at about 2400m, has a total length of 265 kilometers , of which more than 230 runs through the province of Lleida.

On the first day there will be an optional extension, to visit the birth, where those who wish must do 6 km of trekking.

For 7 days, on the route we cross Alta Cerdanya, Baixa Cerdanya, the counties of Alt Urgell , Noguera and Segrià. It passes through the towns of Puigcerdà, Bellver de Cerdanya , La Seu d’Urgell , Organyà, Ponts , Balaguer , Lleida, Seròs, among others. Finally, it delivers its waters to the Ebro in the Zaragoza town of Mequinensa .

Let’s pass by three main reservoirs: the ofOliana, the one of Rialb and that of Sant Llorenç de Montgai; we will cross the gorges of Camarasa, we will see their union, the aguabarreig, with such important rivers as the Noguera Pallaresa and Ribagorçana, the Valira, the Cinca and finally at the mouth of the Ebro river in Aragon.

1st day, Birth of the river Segre. 24 km bike, option 6 km trekking to reach the birth

On the 2nd day, we will cross Cerdanya, Bellver, Martinet, several small towns with their charm, we will see the Segre river rise, entering Alt Urgell 61 km

3rd day Through L’Alt Urgell, between plains, reservoirs and gorges, surrounded by places that will surprise us. 51 km

4th day, 47 km More reservoirs, Rialp, with forested areas, amazing views over the marsh, the town of Tiurana and more.

5th day, 45 km awaits us the passage from the Gorges del Segre to Camarasa with the water mixture of the river Noguera Pallaresa, with some traps that are not suitable for cycling, which is well worth it.

6th day, 57 km, we leave the pre-Pyrenees to enter the plains of Lleida, change of scenery to more comfortable terrain, on tracks, we explore the city of Lleida.

7th day, 40 km arrival at the junction with the Ebro river. return

Includes: 7 days of guided route, 6 days of half-board accommodation, (extra night option on the first day) technical t-shirt for the route, transport of bags, transport of bikes on the first and last day, photographic report, some energy bars.
